From that early start the pousadas are now located in Castles, Palaces, Monasteries and Manor Houses. The Pousadas of Portugal are truly a way to step back in time, as you enjoy the luxury of some of Portugal's most precious resources.

These pousadas are known for their style and fine service. You can look forward to a warm welcome and personal service.

The most popular way to visit the Pousadas of Portugal is with a rental car. Some of the more remote pousadas are impossible to reach with public transportation. There are a few pousadas located in the larger towns where you can have the pousada experience using public transportation. There are pousadas in Evora, Guimaraes, Viana do Castelo, Vila Vicosa and Sagres.
